About Chongie Road

“Chongie Road” is a mesmerizing and deeply introspective album by Achill musician, Seán Lynch. With this project, Lynch embarks on a remarkable musical journey, encapsulating the various stages of his life and career through the lens of ten evocative tracks. Each song on the album serves as a poignant reflection of the moments, experiences, and influences that have shaped him along his life’s journey.

As the album progresses, listeners are taken on a sonic odyssey, with each subsequent track representing a distinct period in Seán’s life. These compositions weave together an intricate tapestry of emotions, memories, and musical influences that have defined his artistic evolution. From the second track “The Road to Lisdoonvarna”, which pays homage to Achill Island’s rich pipe band tradition with the use of the distinctive snare drum to its culmination with the poignant final track, “Chongie Road” highlighting the significance of home and its people and their profound influence on Seán as an artist.

“Chongie Road” is a powerful tribute to the place that has shaped his identity and creative spirit, a reflection on the sense of belonging and the enduring connection to one’s roots. “Chongie Road” is not just an album; it’s a heartfelt narrative, a musical autobiography, and a soul-stirring testament to the enduring impact of one’s life experiences on their artistry.

Congratulations on a really lovely album Seánie , you take the listener on a musical journey which reflects your Achill heritage straight away from the beautiful album cover and through each track by your own highly impressive playing , arrangements and beautiful compositions.

I love the blend of the traditional and original material and the album is contemporary yet firmly grounded in the tradition with great musical performances from all involved. The Uilleann Pipes in all their beauty are at the heart of the album and your own mastery of the instrument stands out throughout.

Comhghairdeachas ó chroí on producing a beautiful album and one that will stand the test of time. Achill Abú!

The Atlantic, Achill and their traditions permeate each of the ten tracks of Chongie Road , serving to set Seánie Ó’Loingsigh on an introspective musical journey that reviews the different stages of his life and professional career. Each track is a deep vital reflection on what it means to be a musician in an environment like this. His musical influences, his environment, his people, his sense of community and roots are reflected in each composition on Chongie Road, culminating in the moving final track that gives the album its title.
